>>Link: School Sniffer Maps, date of first (and only so far) posted 12/7/2012
These PM 2.5 concentration maps are from data collected by the Fairbanks North Star Borough instrumented “sniffer” vehicle traveling on public roads. These maps are an instantaneous snapshot of what was happening at that time – not 24-hour averages or 1-hour averages. The contours (colors) correspond to EPA PM 2.5 24- hour levels on the Air Quality Index.
The Borough continues to (somewhat intermittently) post the data collected by the sniffer vehicle on http://www.aqfairbanks.com/.
Clean Air Fairbanks encourages the Borough to make a concerted effort to post sniffer maps and data to better inform parents of PM 2.5 concentrations at their child’s school.
