Thanks to 30 volunteer sponsors and borough-wide support, 3,028 signatures from borough voters have been submitted to put the Healthy Air citizen’s initiative on the October 4, 2011 ballot.
Sponsors filed the signed petitions with the Borough Clerk’s office on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, ahead of schedule! Signatures were gathered from May 6 to July 5. State law allows 90 days to collect signatures for a ballot initiative.
Now that the petitions are filed, the Borough Clerk’s office has 10 days to verify signatures from 2,457 registered borough voters. If the count is insufficient, sponsors may take 10 additional days to submit supplemental signatures. If the count is sufficient, the citizen’s initiative will be on the regular October 4 municipal ballot.
